A Jesuit's Guide to the Stars: Weekend Astronomy Retreat with "The Pope's Astronomer" Br. Guy Consolmagno, SJ
Oct. 23, 6pm - Oct. 25, 1pm Jesuit Spirituality is centered on “finding God in all things.” What better represents “all things” than the universe itself? Indeed, Jesuits have figured prominently in the history of astronomy, engaging both mind and heart...the mathematical and scientific study of the phenomena, and also in its history and philosophy, and its reflections in art, photography, and poetry. Don’t miss the opportunity to come seek some of the answers with us and “The Pope’s Astronomer” at this amazing retreat! Br. Guy Consolmagno, SJ, is an astronomer and the Director Emeritus of the Vatican Observatory. A native of Detroit, he earned degrees in Planetary Science from MIT and the University of Arizona. He was a research fellow at Harvard and MIT, served in the Peace Corps, and taught university physics before entering the Society of Jesus in 1989. In addition to Br. Guy’s research, he is the author of more than 300 scientific publications and several popular astronomy books.
