Indeed, Jesuits have figured prominently in the history of astronomy, engaging both mind and heart...the mathematical and scientific study of the phenomena, and also in its history and philosophy, and its reflections in art, photography, and poetry. Guy Consolmagno, SJ, is an astronomer and the Director Emeritus of the Vatican Observatory. A native of Detroit, he earned degrees in Planetary Science from MIT and the University of Arizona. He was a research fellow at Harvard and MIT, served in the Peace Corps, and taught university physics before entering the Society of Jesus in 1989. In addition to Br. Guy’s research, he is the author of more than 300 scientific publications and several popular astronomy books.

The annual Catholic Men’s Motorcycle Ride will take place August 15–21, 2026. Led by Rev. Matthew Nicks, this unique experience brings men together to share their Catholic faith and a passion for motorcycle touring. Each day begins with Mass, followed by fellowship, adventure, and camaraderie on the open road. This year’s ride will take participants to South Dakota, exploring the scenic Black Hills and the Badlands.
